A Phoenix Too Frequent

This romantic comedy depicts a grieving widow in Ancient Greece gradually finding the attractions of a young soldier outweighing her determination to join her husband in the underworld. Donna Orbits the Moon

Something is not quite right with Donna: She's a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a minor celebrity to all the bake sale planners in town, but something is making her spacey, and she's not sure what it is. Therapy is out of the question and church isn't the place to share one's distress. DONNA ORBITS THE MOON brings us into Donna's world of startling violence at home, at the grocery store, and on a county road. Vertigo in church. The voice of a famous astronaut speaking to her at the hair salon. Walmart. Mall of America. All of that- and the question, "Why is she behaving oddly?" Donna will need to pass through space and through time- and try to break free from her gravitational pull to learn just how she can land. A glimpse of what happens when someone is juggling life and the unthinkable, Ian August's comedy/drama draws a tender dimensional portrait of a woman whose trauma is so relatable, whose heart is so big, and whose intentions are so earnest, we are rooting for her to take that one brave step, even before we know why.
